The Creators of "Fauda" Have A New Project: A Movie About October 7
Noam Tibon, a retired IDF general, drove into the terror-infested Kibbutz Nachal Oz to save his family and other survivors. Now they're making a movie about him.
Journalist Amir Tibon was at home with his wife and two daughters in Kibbutz Nachal Oz on the morning of October 7th, when he heard the sound of gunfire and loud Arabic piercing the peaceful morning. Understanding the gravity of the situation and hearing reports of the scale of Hamas’s brutal invasion of Israel that day, Tibon called his father, famed retired IDF general Noam Tibon, while sheltering with his terrified family in their safe room.
Immediately, the elder Tibon left the safety of his Tel Aviv home and drove to the terror-infested communities near the Gaza border. Armed only with a pistol and hitchhiking with soldiers, they encountered a Hamas cell and eliminated them in a brief firefight. Tibon took the injured to his wife to be taken to a hospital, and linked up with another retired general to rejoin the fight. Arriving at Nachal Oz, Tibon began defending the kibbutz with the sparse defense team and soldiers that had made it down south, going house to house to clear them of terrorists and rescue survivors. 10 hours after being barricaded in their safe room and not knowing what was happening due to the lack of electricity, Tibon arrived at his son’s house and rescued them. Aditionally, Noam and his wife Gali rescued survivors of the massacre at the Supernova music festival and helped wounded Israeli soldiers.
The Tibon’s story of bravery and courage took the world by storm and made international headlines, and now Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz, the co-creators and writers of the popular Israeli television series Fauda, are scripting a new feature film titled October 7 based on their story.
October 7 be created by Leviathan Productions, which specializes in developing content based on Jewish history, literature, and folk tales, as well as stories about Israel. The independent production company was founded by Ben Cosgrove and best-selling author Josh Foer. Jessica Kasmer-Jacobs and Talia Harris Ram will serve as executive producers of the movie, while Noam and Amir will be consultants on the film.
Issacharoff and Raz are best known for co-creating Fauda, which began streaming on Netflix in 2015 and has already aired four seasons. The duo also created the series Ghosts of Beirut for Showtime and Hit & Run for Netflix.
